Hi - I'm travelling down to London for my 19th birthday this coming weekend with a friend and staying with another friend. My two friends are straight so I was wondering where the best places might be for us to go that's fairly cheap and where they'll feel comfortable as well. Hopefully we'll be going on the Saturday night so Where's good? Are your friends male or female? This could be a factor in helping people to make suggestions.

While most people think of Manchester or Brighton when it comes to a lesbian scene, the capital is up there with the two heavyweights with its long list of pubs, clubs and bars catering directly gay women. From raving clubs, to sophisticated bars and casual, friendly pubs, read our recommended list of the best lesbian bars in London and have yourself a hootenanny. During the day it is a chilled out venue; when the sun goes down, the DJs come out in force, and the atmosphere keeps on buzzing until late into the night. One of Farringdon's best gay bars, this unique watering hole in the heart of the City offers fresh cocktails, tasty food, all manner of wonderful workshops and one of the most diverse crowds in London.
Lesbian Bars in London
London in detail. The city of Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf and Elton John does not disappoint its queer visitors, proffering a fantastic mix of highbrow culture and brash parties year-round. It's a world gay capital on par with New York and San Francisco, with visible gay, lesbian and transgender communities and enlightened laws to protect them. Protection from discrimination is enshrined in law and same-sex couples have the right to marry. However, it would be extremely surprising not to mention illegal for same-gender couples to strike any problems when booking a double bed in a hotel or, indeed, dealing with any service provider.
