We have grown significantly since , from a living room full of boxes to professionally managed archive. With more than archival collections and over 26, museum visitors each year, the society is now an international leader in the field of LGBTQ history, and one of the most important queer cultural institutions in the world. As we celebrate the last 35 years, we look confidently towards the future. On March 16, more than 60 people attend a public meeting at the old San Francisco Main Library now the Asian Art Museum to propose establishing an association to document and promote understanding of Bay Area queer history.

The 49th annual parade in included parade contingents, and is described on the official website as "the largest gathering of LGBT people and allies in the nation". It is held on Sunday morning of the Festival. The route is usually west along San Francisco's Market Street , from Steuart Street to 8th Street  and it runs from am until almost pm. Participants line up off the parade route in advance of the start of the parade. The parade consists of hundreds of contingents from various groups and organizations.
